Computer Stand
So when I built my computer in the Phanteks Enthoo Evolve case - I ran into a bit of a problem. The biggest one is that, unlike my old Lian-Li case that has an inverted motherboard and sits on the left, this one sits on the right. So in order to fit in, I had to place it under my desk instead of on top since it would've blocked my TV. I didn't want it on the floor - keeping it elevated would also help cut down on the amount of dirt it would aspirate. In order to do this, I needed a stand to set it on.I wanted something fun and different. My wife bought a DeWalt portable table saw for and I figured I'd put it to use. I drafted a design out to have literally everything at an angle and that it uses no nails or screws - that it all slots together.
One downside is that the top deck was simply too wide for the standard solid wood and I had to buy some laminate wood at my local Lowe's. Unfortunately I ended up generating some scrap wood along the way because a lot of the cuts were rather difficult to make with so many angles. It didn't help matters I second guessed myself a few times and made even more scrap wood! If I were to do it over, I think I would've purchased two of the standard shelf-boards and data-jointed together - maybe next time!
This is a picture of all the pieces laid out.
First, we slide one of the side pieces onto the end cap.
Now, we have both side pieces onto the end cap.
Here we can see a detail of how the top deck piece slides into the ends. The middle tab adds further strength and support to the top deck. I could likely stand on it with my full weight with no issues!
Fully Assembled! The only thing keeping it together is simply friction and the interlocking nature of the pieces.
This stand fits my current computer perfectly. The only downside is that I upgrade my computer case I'll need to make sure it fits on it. If not, I'll likely need to re-make parts of it!
