Garden Of the Gods

Garden Of the Gods (GOTG) is one of the more dramatic geologic areas in Colorado. GOTG features a clear view of Pikes Peak as it is less than 30 miles from the mountain. Set near Colorado Springs, it features a good set of hiking trails throughout the park. Unlike Pikes Peak, virtually anyone should be able to explore the park without too much exertion if you're not used to the altitude.

You can find out more about this site at the Garden Of the Gods Web site.

This scene is pretty typical of what is in store at Garden Of the Gods. This was taken from the road that threads its way through the park. This shot has a good mixure of the lush greenery nestled against the sandstone upcroppings, in person it's quite a breathtaking sight.

There is a little white speck of a person on the largest section of stone. Rock climbing is permitted provided you are registered with the office and have appropriate gear. Don't let them catch you climbing without gear or permission because you will be fined stiffly.

This scene was taken somewhere along the many sidewalks that weave their way through the park.

This is my "illegal" shot I believe. I quietly snuck up a little bit, took this shot, and quickly retreated back down. A nice picture between the tall standstone structures and the rolling hills that make surround the area before leveling off into the plains.
